Airport People

Leon Todd Johnson began as a classically trained violinist, and has grown into an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer. Born in Arizona, Leon has played in various music groups across the country, ranging from straight-ahead jazz in San Antonio, TX to indie and folk rock in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently based in Indianapolis, IN, composing minimalist, ambient neoclassical music under the moniker airport people.

The music of airport people uses the raw form and color of piano and orchestral instruments, textured by field recordings and electronic manipulations. Leon’s music has been described as “full-on sincere,” “teeming with care,” and “nostalgic or rosy, with a bit of sadness.” It has been featured in dance performances, on local radio stations, and used on multiple podcasts, including How to Survive the Future and The Unsolicited Film Critics.

When he is not writing or performing music, Leon appreciates philosophy, reads fiction novels, and stares at the wall.
