SEAN VICTORY

You sit alone in a quiet room and listen carefully. What is it you hear? Not traffic in the street, not voices or rain or someone's radio. You hear something but what? It's not roomtone or ambient sound, It's something that may change as your listening deepens, second after second, and the sound is growing louder now—not louder but somehow wider, sustaining itself, encircling itself. What's it? The mind, the life itself, your life? Or is it the world, not material mass, land and sea, but what inhabits the world, the flood of human existence? The world hum. Do you hear it, yourself, ever? -Don DeLillo (Zero K, 2016)
World Hum is synthesist and sound designer Sean Victory. Years of record collecting and a hungry ear gave way to a love of sound and noise. Victory weaves years of audio expertise and synth experimentation into sonic interpretations of thought patterns, ecstasies and ruminations. Drawing heavily from literary influences concerned with the nature of modern life, World Hum captures dusty stills of spirits ever-searching for the sustenance of understanding. Hope glows bright and scarce, where forgiveness can shrug off the heart's ballast in realization of its true purpose. With a focus on repetition and texture, the music is meant to connect the listener's interior landscape with the beauty and terror that lives inside the banalty of everyday life.
